REDS: Napoli deny Mario Balotelli interest....

Napoli have ruled themselves out of making a January bid for Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli, while they also claim they have no interest in Reds target Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Liverpool have been linked with several strikers ahead of this month’s transfer window, with Balotelli yet to score a Premier League goal since his £16m summer move, while Daniel Sturridge continues to struggle with injury.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Lavezzi is said to be among Brendan Rodgers’ targets, while Napoli were also linked with a move for the Argentine, as well as Balotelli.

But the Serie A side have now ruled themselves out of both transfers.

‘Sometimes agents have fun by pulling out our name, but we have nothing to do with Lavezzi or Balotelli,’ said Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

His statement potentially leaves the path clear for Rodgers to move for Lavezzi when the transfer window opens tomorrow, while Inter Milan could yet pursue their reported interest in a loan deal for Balotelli.
