Louis van Gaal: United's FA Cup Yeovil trip is 'Death or Gladioli'

Louis van Gaal has fired up his Manchester United players for their tricky trip to Yeovil by telling them the FA Cup is ‘Death or glory’.

The Old Trafford giants' manager said: “In the Netherlands we have a saying: “Death or the Gladioli” which means all or nothing. It’s a Gladioli game [aay to the League One side]. You are dead or you receive the gladiolus flower and in cup matches it’s always like that.

"We will go into the match fully prepared.”

New United boss Van Gaal has not won a Cup match for them yet after seeing his team humiliated away to another League One side, MK Dons, as they lost 4-0 in the Capital One Cup in August.

Van Gaal is anxious to avoid any more embarrassment on Sunday at humble Huish Park.

He added: “We know from our early exit in the Capital One Cup that league places mean nothing in the cups.

“You can win and you can lose and of course we have to win. The FA Cup the shortest way to success so we are very interested and I think my players are also.”
