Liverpool's revival continued to gather momentum as they won 2-0 at Aston Villa thanks to goals in either half from Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert.
Brendan Rodgers' side started the brighter and deservedly led at the break from Borini's close-range finish from skipper Jordan Henderson's cross in the 24th minute.
Villa then had a big escape when Raheem Sterling shot tamely straight at Brad Guzan when one-on-one.
