Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal are still unsure as to the extent of Mathieu Debuchy’s injury.
The defender was stretchered off during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City with an ankle problem.
And nearly a week on from the incident, Arsenal have yet to determine how long the Frenchman will be sidelined for.
‘He has an exploration of his ankle on Friday night and they go in and look how the ligament is damaged, and after that we know if he does need surgery,’ said Wenger.
‘If he doesn’t, it’ll be six weeks, if he does need surgery it’ll be three months. At the moment we don’t know.’
Nacho Monreal will also be absent for tomorrow’s trip to high-flying Aston Villa, alongside Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and Serge Gnabry.
However the Gunners are hopeful of having Calum Chambers and Mathieu Flamini available for selection.
