Jack Wilshere ‘confident ankle injury sustained during Dortmund Champions League loss not serious’

Wilshere 'confident ankle injury sustained during Dortmund loss not serious'

Jack Wilshere is reportedly confident that the ankle injury he picked up during Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund is not serious.

The midfielder twisted his troublesome right ankle late on in the defeat in Germany, but was forced to finish the match because Arsenal had used up all of their substitutes.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger later admitted his concern about how long the 22-year-old could be out of action for, especially considering his history with ankle knocks.

But, according to The Mirror, Wilshere is hopeful that he hasn’t sustained a serious injury and is confident of returning to action soon – although the midfielder is likely to miss Arsenal’s Premier League clash away to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The news will come as a relief to Wenger following Mathieu Debuchy and Nacho Monreal’s recent injuries, which ruled the duo out of the Dortmund loss on Tuesday.
