Manchester United bosses will reportedly ask Sir Alex Ferguson to try and persuade Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Real Madrid and move back to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo made his name with The Red Devils before moving to the Santiago Bernabeu outfit in an £80million deal – at the time a world record fee – in 2009.
Despite having won a number of trophies, including the Champions League crown with Los Blancos last season and the prestigious Ballon d’Or award earlier this year, the Portuguese star has continually been linked back to his former side.
And The Daily Express have now claimed that Old Trafford chiefs will ask Ronaldo’s former mentor, Ferguson, to convince the 29-year-old of the merits of re-joining United next year.
It is believed that the Premier League side are willing to pay Ronaldo about £300,000-a-week as part of a £60million deal to lure the winger back to England, although reports in Germany have claimed that the player will demand a much higher salary of £500,000-a-week.
