Mathieu Debuchy is set to have a medical at Arsenal in the coming days after the Gunners agreed a fee with Newcastle for his services.
Arsenal made Debuchy their number one right-back target last week, following the departure of Bacary Sagna to Manchester City.
And now L’Equipe reports that after talks this week, Newcastle have now accepted an offer worth £7.9million for the 28-year-old.
The French newspaper says the fee could rise to £12million with bonus payments, but Arsenal will feel they have pulled off a bargain when the deal goes through as expected.
Newcastle are already looking for a replacement, having held talks with Feyenoord over Daryl Janmaat and Manchester City’s Micah Richards over possible moves.
Debuchy, who is now free to sort out a transfer after France’s World Cup exit, removed the ‘Newcastle player’ words from his Twitter bio yesterday.

The news comes amid talk that the Magpies have already resigned themselves to losing Debuchy, with Manchester City star Micah Richards rumoured to be his replacement.
Arsenal are in need of a new right-back after Bacary Sagna left the club last month, and Arsene Wenger is known to be a huge fan of Debuchy.
