Lazar Markovic ‘set for Liverpool medical’

Liverpool target Lazar Markovic is set to complete a medical with the Reds ahead of a prospective move.

The Benfica winger is reportedly due to undergo the formality this weekend as Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers lines up a £20m deal.

Markovic looks likely to become Liverpool’s fourth signing this summer, with Rodgers having already completed deals for Emre Can, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season and the Reds’ return to the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also thought to be closing on a deal for Belgium youngster Divock Origi, although Tottenham are also keen on the Lille man who has impressed in this summer’s World Cup.

However any deal for Origi is likely to see him loaned back to the French outfit for next season.

Talks are also said to be ongoing between Liverpool and Southampton for defender Dejan Lovren, with the Reds said to have had a £20m offer rejected by the south coast club.
