Manchester City: Alvaro Negredo available for £25million as Atletico Madrid step up interest

Frustrated: Negredo lost his place in City's starting line-up to Edin Dzeko last season

Manchester City will agree to sell unsettled striker Alvaro Negredo - but only if the price is right.

Negredo is understood to have struggled to settle in Manchester, with Atletico Madrid ready to take full advantage of his predicament with a £20m bid.

Although City have insisted Negredo is not for sale, it is understood they are willing to listen to offers in the region of £25m for the forward.

Negredo, who joined City from Sevilla last summer for £16.4 rising to £20m with add-ons, enjoyed a prolific first half of the season.

The 28-year-old made a superb start to his City career, scoring 23 goals in his first 33 appearances, but the goals dried up for him after Christmas.

Negredo's last goal for City came on January 21 and he then went on a 16-game run until the end of the season without finding the back of the net.

Atletico Madrid are looking for a new striker to lead their attack after agreeing to sell their leading scorer Diego Costa to Chelsea for £32m.

Negredo is top of their list and City may be tempted to cash in on the striker nicknamed 'The Beast', after his form tailed off last season.
