Reputation: Suarez says he's not as bad as portrayed
Suarez is annoyed at having to fend off repeated accusations that he cheats to try and win penalties and free-kicks.
The Liverpool striker claims virtually all of his bookings are for other offences and feels his name has been blackened unfairly.
"How many yellow cards do I have for diving?" said the Uruguay World Cup star, who is racing to recover from a knee injury to be fit for Brazil.
The Uruguayan has a reputation that precedes him - but he insists he isn't a diver and wants rid of his "bad-boy" tag
"I have a lot of yellow cards in my career, but most are for arguing, for fighting, for giving a kick - not for diving.
"Sometimes I fall, but it's to get a penalty. It is because I have been kicked."
Suarez, 27, is determined to change his image and insists he has been the perfect role model since returning in September from his ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
The South American was also heavily criticised for his race row with Patrice Evra in 2011 and he accepts he had to clean up his act.
"I want to change the bad-boy image that has stuck for a bit because I don't think I am at all how I have been portrayed," he told Sports Illustrated.
"I would like that to change because it's awful to hear and read what is said of you.
"On the field, sometimes passion overwhelms you and you do things you regret afterward. At the same time, you have a chance to learn from those things.
"I think I [have] been a role model since last summer; I have been professional and I have the desire to forge ahead and play well regardless of what is said to me."
