Our man Ed Malyon has reported that Liverpool and Arsenal have been offered Brazil international Bernard.

The 21-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk star has been made available, and parties working on behalf of the livewire winger have been touch with the Premier League sides over a potential deal.

Bernard's £19m fee has priced out potential suitors in his homeland, and both the Gunners and the Reds are weighing up a bid.

Suarez goes under the knife

Luis Suarez underwent a successful knee operation on Thursday afternoon back in his native Uruguay.

The Reds' 31-goal hitman suffered the injury while training with his national team ahead of this summer's World Cup.

However, swift action was taken, and despite initial fears ruling him out of next month's tournament in Brazil, Suarez is expected to return to play some part in the competition.

The Frenchman, who is contracted to Queens Park Rangers, spent last season on loan at Newcastle United and impressed by scoring 14 goals.
