Manchester City could be set for a fight to keep hold of Aleks Kolarov after he was linked with super-rich Monaco.
The Serbian has been a revelation at the Etihad Stadium, despite splitting playing time at left back with Gael Clichy.
He has spoken of his improvement last term under Manuel Pellegrini after his relationship with his predecessor, Roberto Mancini, soured.
Across all competitions Kolarov made 44 appearances and won over the Blues support who had been lukewarm towards him since his £19m switch from Lazio in 2010.
But his contract expires next season, and while City have opened talks over a new deal, reports in France claim the side from the principality, currently managerless, are lining him up.
Newspaper Le10Sport say Monaco, who recently sacked former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri, have opened talks with 28-year-old Kolarov as part of their plans to bring in more experience and challenge Paris St Germain for the French title.
