Chelsea Transfer News: Samuel Eto'o Eyed by Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly among a gaggle of clubs interested in signing Samuel Eto'o from Chelsea .

The Cameroonian striker—drafted in by Jose Mourinho to add attacking firepower during the 2013-14 season—is the subject of interest from across the globe, reported by the Metro:

Eto'o has received offers from MLS and Australian teams, along with several Italian and Spanish sides – including his old outfit Real Mallorca.

However, Spurs believe they could tempt the striker to remain in London, where he has settled and fallen in love with the Premier League.

Spurs, like Chelsea, suffered under their forwards' lack of output last season. Emmanuel Adebayor was the only out-and-out striker to net more than 10 goals from either club during the Premier League campaign that has just ended, with Eto'o offering the next best total at nine, per WhoScored.com.

Eto'o is no longer the lightening-quick goalscorer who lit up La Liga and Serie A, but he offers an assured sense of experience when needed. The 33-year-old scored vital goals against Liverpool, Manchester United and Galatasaray, prolonging Chelsea's title hopes into the final weeks of the season.

He remains an adept finisher, the type of player who can pop up with a much-needed strike, something Roberto Soldado didn't offer during his debut campaign with Spurs.
